Blackberry to challenge the iPad with the BlackPad

I love competition and a good fight and can’t wait to see the purported BlackPad, the competitive answer to the iPad from RIM, the maker of the BlackBerry.

It’s supposedly coming in November.

The BlackBerry tablet will have roughly the same dimensions as the iPad, offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and will reportedly sell for about the same as the Wi-Fi version of the iPad. Alas, it will not – say all the reports – run on a cellular data network. So… no Wi-Fi, no BlackPad connectivity.

But the rumor mill says it will have a front and a back facing camera for video conferencing, something the iPad sorely needs.

I’m thinkin the name – BlackPad – sounds a bit ominous.

Maybe for the iPad, it will be.
