Microsoft’s Bill Cox said Thursday that over 3,200 Android users had taken up company Windows Phone evangelist Ben Rudolph’s challenge to describe their virus “horror stories.” As a challenge, Rudolph had offered a free Windows Phone to those who could recount the most convincing stories of Android malware instances. Just when we thought it was safe to open our in box has come another computer virus/worm to sweep the globe. This time, it’s a flood of e-mails with the “Here You Have” phrase in the subject line. It knocked out corporate and government e-mail servers first and is now rapidly spreading to home users.

Don’t open it.

I shouldn’t have to even say that anymore. But because the e-mails spoof the addresses of friends and colleagues, many do. And that. of course, spreads it even faster.

By pretending to present an attached PDF, the accompanying e-mail containing the worm typically looks like this when it shows up in your inbox:

Subject: Here you have (or “Just for you”)

Body: This is The Document I told you about, you can find it

Here. [link]

Please check it and reply as soon as possible.

The URLs do not actually lead to a PDF document, but, when clicked, activates the virus, which then attempts to send itself to email address in yoiur contact list.

Same old, same old, right?

Security and anti-virus firms are all over this and if you update your virus protection, you should be all set. But because it will be spreading for some time yet, be aware and just junk it when it arrives.
