Apple TV 1080p teardown shows A5 variant, 512MB of RAM

In a rare first ahead of more official outlets, XBMC forum member aicjofs has posted a teardown of the newer 1080p-capable Apple TV that shows a number of changes. As suspected, it has upgraded from an A4 to an A5, although it's now using a slight variant on the iPad 2/iPhone 4S version with an APL2498 part number. Tether preps web-based iPhone-to-computer tethering

Tether may have achieved a rare trick by developing a tethering option that reportedly works over the web. Getting around the blocks on tools like the iTether native app, it uses a combination of a Mac or Windows app with an HTML5 mobile page. iOS 5.1 gets early tethered jailbreak for pre-A5 devices

The iPhone Dev Team has detailed a very early jailbreak method for the now official iOS 5.1 update. Beta 6 of redsn0w 0.9.10 will crack all devices based on the A4 and earlier. Mercedes-Benz ‘fully integrating’ iPhone into new A-class

German car maker Daimler has announced plans to "comprehensively" integrate the iPhone into the user experience of the new A-Class Mercedes-Benz models.
