With summer vacation season rapidly approaching, a lot of us are planning long trips. But sometimes, we need to stay in touch with what’s happening back home. We have some apps that will help you do just that.
One worry every traveler has is missing important mail. The Outbox Mail app for Apple devices is amazing. It digitizes your mail several times a week and then sends it to you, where you can read and handle right from your iPhone or iPad. The app is free, so s the first month. Thereafter it’s just $4.99 a month. They assure privacy and security. The one limitation is its brand new and not available everywhere yet, though they promise to expand service.
Staying in touch is what textPlus is all about and it works everywhere. This is an amazing free app that works on every major mobile platform. You simply download the textPlus app on your smartphone or tablet and use it to call and text other textPlus users for free. You can also call or text anyone who doesn’t have the app at rates cheaper than Skype and much cheaper than the major carriers. There’s even a free walkie-talkie feature to communicate.
One more: Mint. It’s a free budget app that lets you keep track of expenses while you’re on the go, making sure you don’t overspend on that well deserved vacation. It’s free for Apple and Android devices.
