When it comes to the Weather – There’s an App For That

If you liked this post, say thanks by sharing it:

It seems like this year’s winter weather has been wreaking havoc across the country much more than usual. And keeping on top of the latest forecast and conditions is at the top of everyone’s daily to-do list. That is where technology can help for when it comes to the weather… there’s a lot of apps for that.

The problem is choosing an app… there are several hundred now available. Bottom line is you can now carry around a weather forecasting studio right on your mobile phone.

My favorite weather app these days is from Weather Bug… there’s a free version with ads, or, for 99-cents, an elite version with no ads. It works on all mobile phone platforms…Android, BlackBerry, iPhone … and delivers really nice live local weather forecasts, radar and current condition reports, with alerts and animation and very easy to follow weather info.

The Accuweather folks have a great you may want, as well. It is heavy on graphics and gives a quick read on what it’s like now and what’s coming, though the ads can be pretty annoying.

For Live Radars – anywhere in the country – I like the 99-cent US Radars App. It does animated radars that are live enough that you can just about predict yourself when the snow will start in your neighborhood.

Finally, check out the 99-cent Live Cams App. Though not specifically a weather application, you can tune into hundreds of live webcams all over the world for a live look at on-the-scene weather conditions.

Here’s my NBC-TV PC Mike report on this…
