You’ve heard the term that everybody seems to be using for our cell phone now? Smartphone. Meaning that they can do all sorts of things besides make phone call. But as our C Mike Wendland explains, some new smartphone programs really can… make you smarter. Here’s a look at some so-called “brain enhancing” apps.
Now you can use your phone to sharpen your mind. A hot new category these days includes mind improving apps like these from Imak Solutions, which offers a slew of brain power exercises concentrating on verbal skills, math skills and logic. Some are for kids, some for adults, all use flash card like training to make you smarter.
Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima is a $5 iPhone app that first looks like a series of puzzles but is actually an exercise program for your brain that forces you to stimulate the different parts of the brain, such as the frontal lobe to do some quick mental deductions to crank up your cranium.
Not a game fan? Try WikiQuiz, a 99-cent iPhone app which tests and increase your knowledge of popular culture.
For Android smartphone users, there’s Braingoal, a logic game.
And then, everybody’s favorite… Trivial Pursuit, which comes in iPhone, Windows and Android versions of the famous board game… now playable on the smartphones.
