‘Tis that tine of year, when everyone seemingly gets a new high tech toy. But if this Christmas is typical, a lot of those shiny gizmos and gadgets aren’t going to work right, or will have issues. So just where do you go for quick help for those non working tech devices? We have some suggestions.
One of the best online resources is the Tech Support Guy website, which, unlike many of the other help sites, is totally free, run completely by volunteers and paid for completely by donations and sponsors. The site’s forum offers fast speedy help with software issues, games, digital cameras, phones, Windows and Mac computers. Ask a question, describe a problem and you’ll get help. There are also lots of troubleshooting articles available on just about every possible issue you will encounter.
The Suggest a Fix forum is another great free resource. Basically, you post problems in the hope that another forum member can help. Generally, they can.
For years Tom’s Hardware Guide has dubbed itself THE authority on tech and indeed, it just gets better and better. Find the category of the device giving you grief and you’ll get reviews, charts and the info you need to diagnose most issues.
One last tip: Go to the manufacturer’s website and look for a forum there, for very specific help from other users. Or, if all else fails, Google the busted gizmo’s name with a description of the problem. chances are, someone else has the same issue.
