Apps to help you keep those New Year Resolutions

It’s a New Year and for many of us, time to resolve to lose weight, get organized and get on top of our finances. And this year, technology on our mobile phones can help make a New You in this New Year.

Number one on everyone’s New Year’s Resolutions is losing weight and the top system I can recommend you get right now is called My Net Diary. There’s a version that works on your computer but for the Blackberry, Droid and the iPhone and iPad, their $2.99 app is the best one I’ve ever experienced. It monitors your food intake, tells you how many calories you’ve consumed using a huge database of foods, and it track calories burned through exercise. And it charts and measures everything.

There’s a New Year’s Resolution App for 2011. At 99-cents it’s like a to-do list of all the goals you set for the New Year.

Here’s my NBC-TV piece…

Every smartphone has tons of finance and money managing apps. Your bank, for example, probably has an app… Pay Pal has one. I like the Mint app… it’s free… and it helps you set goals, track, budget and manage your money on-the-go.

Finally, to make sure you don’t forget important dates in 2011, get Splashdata’s 99-cent important date reminder app. List them all and it will remind you when to get a present and send a card.
