2013 tax apps

If you liked this post, say thanks by sharing it:

It’s tax time again. All those forms are now landing in your mailbox and the annual exercise in accounting to the IRS is beginning. To help you with the task, our PC Mike Wendland has some very useful apps for your mobile devices that may make tax time a little less trying.

If your taxes are simple and you don’t own a home or have complicated deductions, it’s pretty hard to beat Turbo Tax’s  SnapTax for Andoid or the iPhone. The app is free but it does cost $25 to efile your return. Snap a photo of your W2, spend 10 minutes  answering simple questions and… you’re done. Right from your smartphone.

For more complicated forms, TurboTax has a great iPad app that will let you do everything on your tablet.

H&R Block offers a free iPhone and Android smartphone app for efiling the simple 1040EZ form. It automatically checks for errors and omissions, too.

Here’s a great app for those who make charitable donations – iDonatedit , $2.99 for iPhone and Android devices..The app tracks the date you donated non-cash items to a charity, the charity you donated items to, the items you donated, and the fair market value of those items..It builds lists of the items and even attaches a photo to your list and then email it all to yourself or your accountant. Very handy.

I was so excited about the app that took donated items and assigned a value, but then saw it was only for Android and iPhones. Are there any others that could work on a MacBook or Kindle Fire or iPad2? I donated many many items to the Salvation Army this year and am trying to use the Goodwill chart, but it hasn’t helped alot.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
